Emily came to visit Visit

My amazing cousin Emily came all the way from NYC to little ol' Lawton, OK to visit us and spend some time with Weyland.  We had such a fun weekend with her.  We spent a lot of time just hanging out at the house with Weyland but Sunday we did get out for a bit.  We took Emily to Fort Sill and showed her around the post.  It was her first time on any army post so David gave her the grand tour.  We saw the Quad where Fort Sill began.  We saw a museum of artillery pieces they have outside next to the Fort Sill museum.  It's pretty cool.  Pretty much any artillery piece that was ever in existence is displayed out on the lawn.  We also went and saw Geronimo's grave (he was captured and buried on Fort Sill).  Then we went over to a small wildlife sanctuary where they have very exotic creatures like turkey's, coyotes, pigeons, bobcats and deer.  haha.  It was such a beautiful day so it was nice to get outside.  (It's been so cold in Lawton)  We then walked over to a beautiful reservoir backed up to a mountain.  The water was crystal clear.  So unexpected to find something so pretty in Lawton.  We finished the day by grabbing some lunch.  We had so much fun hanging out with Aunt Emily!!  We miss her already!  Come back!!!

We thought Em might be a little home sick so we took her to Jersey Mike's Subs.  ;)

Nine Months!

Wow, is this really happening?  I'm gonna pretend that it's not and that you are just a day older than yesterday.  These months seem to go by faster and faster.  Well you are a crawling, standing, exploring, talking machine.  You have mastered the crawl.  You are pretty quick too.  If I'm not careful your hands are in George's water bowl before I can even turn around to check on you.  (I promise I am not a delinquent mother, you are just )  You have also mastered pulling up, standing and then getting back down.  It didn't take you long to figure out that bending your knees and slowing getting back to the ground is much easier than falling back or into whatever was in your way on the way down.  Ouch.  You have had a few bad falls already, one resulting in a pretty good bump on your head.  And you've had a few run ins with George too.  But you are getting better and better at keeping your balance.  You have also figured out how to walk along the surfaces you pull up on.  You are a little explorer.  I think you have opened every cabinet and every drawer you can reach.  You crawl under anything you can get under and through anything you can get through.  It is so much fun just to sit and watch you discover and learn.  It amazes me how smart you are.  Although someday's it's hard to keep up.  Especially when you think, "Okay this room is totally baby proofed and I can sit down now", nope!  You find something that makes me just a little nervous and I have to jump up and say, "No Weyland, that's not for you.  Put that down please."  You are playing more and more with George too.  You love to crawl to him, but of course as soon as you get there, George runs away.  It makes me so sad.  You put out such an effort to get to him and then he just runs off.  You love it when George  pretends to bite your hand.  You think it's hilarious.  You also love the vacuum cleaner, strangely enough.  It makes vacuuming a challenge to say the least.  You love to follow me around and stand up on the canister or even try to catch the vacuum as it passes by you.  One of these days your hand is gonna become victim to the vacuum cleaner, it's only a matter of time.  Diaper changes have become interesting too.  You have always been kinda squirmy but squirmy is a total understatement now.  I wish I had 4 hands to keep you still.

You are such a talker.  You pretty much stick with da da, but mostly it comes out as dad.  It's kinda funny.  It's like you are too cool for da da or daddy and just skipped straight to dad.  You squeal and yell and make all kinds of noise.  The cutest is when you crawl.  It's as if, crawling is too important not
to make noise, so every time your hand hits the floor you make a little noise.  Especially when daddy comes home.  Every day he comes home you hear the door open and you immediately start crawling his direction as fast as you can.  It makes my heart melt.

You love to eat!  It's probably your favorite thing to do.  Sometimes I am surprised by the amount of food you can consume in one sitting.  You are also extremely impatient and voice your impatience from the minute I start getting your meal together.  I have slowly shifted you to all finger foods now.  You still get oatmeal in the morning though.  So far you like bananas!, apples, grapes, pears, mango, peaches, sweet potato, squash, turkey, pasta, cheese, cheerios, blueberries, avacado oh and puffs!.  As you can probably tell from the list veggies are the toughest and you still remain the most resistant to them.  But I'm trying to stay creative so I can sneak them in there for you.  We are working on the drinking from the sippy cup now too.  I've tried a straw type of sippy cup and a regular sippy cup but I didn't have much luck with them.  I did discover this new kind of sippy cup that is more like an regular cup with a lid that moves.  You figured that one out instantly.  But it does make a bit of a mess.  We'll see how long that one lasts.

Let's talk stats.  You weigh almost 20 pounds now, you are 27 inches long.  You are still tall and skinny.  Your poor pants have to hold on for dear life to stay on.  You are still in size 3 diapers.  You are wearing 9 month clothes.  You sleep all night, who-hoo!  But you are still an early riser.  We put you down at 7 and you usually let me sleep until 6.  You are still taking 2 naps, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  You are still nursing 4 times a day.  How could I forget, you still only have 2 teeth.  Two months later and you still only have 2 teeth, poor guy.

We love you so much Weyland!  The word love doesn't even begin to explain it.  I can't imagine what my life would be without you in it.

Weyland was impossible to take pictures of this month.  He was constantly trying to yank the sticker off and would not sit still.  These were the best shots I could get of him.

Caught him in action playing with George.  I wish you could see his face and how funny he thinks it is!

His playhouse is probably his favorite toy.  There are so many things to do and explore on it.

Nana got Weyland this adorable chair.  He loves to climb on it and then fall off.  haha.

Although George thinks it is for him :/

His poor pants.  They are barely hanging on.

Love my Weyland cuddles

Fun at the Park!

 First time in the swing

He has discovered the toilet...and how to unroll the toilet paper roll :/

Loving the tupperware cabinet! (it's the only way dinner gets made)

Eating time!

Happy Valentines Day!

I must admit I am kind of a Scrooge when it comes to Valentines Day.  It's another holiday (15 days after our anniversary by the way) where you have to think of a another creative gift and pick out another card and do something else special.  I know I know, I make it seem painful to have to show David I love him.  But really, after anniversary's, birthdays, father's day/mother's day, and christmas another holiday is just more work!  Sorry to put such a downer on Valentines Day, but it ends well, I promise.  So as I am sitting there feeding Weyland his lunch, on Valentines Day, I realize that I can make this fun now.  I have Weyland to do fun things for and with so we could do something together to show David how much we love him.  I am now regretting all the time I spent dreading this holiday and I wish I could rewind and go to hobby lobby to get some cool crafty stuff to make a cool gift for David with Weyland.  But I can't.  But I have paper, colored pencils and markers.  That will have to do.  I thought maybe I could trace Weyland's hand, hahahaha, yeah not possible.  So I faked it.  I fake traced Weyland's hand and then I traced my own and we made a cute (last minute) home made card for David.  Lesson learned, have fun with these holidays and make some fun memories with Weyland.

On a side note, David was a excellent hubby and came home with flowers for me and a balloon for Weyland.  Weyland wasn't quite sure what to do with the balloon, but after a while he thought it was pretty cool.  I managed to snap a few pics of my two Valentines.

Happy Anniversary!

Yes I know this post is about a month late, but better late than never right?  On Jan 30th, 2013 David and I celebrated our third anniversary of marriage.  It was actually our first anniversary that we have spent together.  Our first anniversary David was in Arizona on the border assisting the border patrol with his unit and our second anniversary David deployed to Afghanistan.  So, three years later on Jan 30th we actually got to wake up together, give each other a big kiss and wish each other happy anniversary.  It was awesome!  That day was a thursday so David and I spent the night in, ate a yummy meal that I prepared for us and drank some even yummier wine, Stag's Leap, courtesy of David and Becky Cook (thank you so much!).   That weekend we drove to Fort Worth, dropped Weyland off with Nana and Papa and got to spend our first baby free weekend together.    We had such a great weekend together!  We started off by seeing a movie downtown, something we had not done since before Weyland was born.  The Avengers was the last movie we saw together, just to give you a reference.  We saw Silver Linings Playbook and it was so good!  After the movie we checked into our hotel and then took a stroll around downtown.  It was really nice but also kinda weird having so much time to ourselves.  We almost didn't know what to do.  That night we had dinner at Bob's Chop House, in the Omni Hotel (the hotel in which we were staying... convenient right?)  It was very yummy!  That morning we got to sleep in and we didn't have to worry about changing a diaper or feeding a baby.  It was awesome!!  Although we were pretty anxious to get back home to get Weyland.  We missed him so much.  So after some breakfast at the hotel we sped on home to get him.  It's a funny thing about missing someone.  You are glad and appreciative of the break, but you can't wait to turn around to return to them.  While we were off celebrating Nana and Papa took Weyland to his very first trip to the Fort Worth Stock Show!  I went every year as a kid, so I was really glad Weyland got to start the tradition early.  I know he had tons of fun there!  So thank you Nana and Papa for taking him and for letting David and I celebrate together.

Can't believe it's been three years! Never gonna let you go!

The only two photos we managed to snap of ourselves.  Shame on us.
